Starting from the operating hours on January 28, the South Extension of the Guangzhou–Qingyuan Intercity Railway (from Guangzhou Baiyun Station to Huadu Station) officially commenced operations. The total intercity rail mileage operated by Guangzhou Metro Group will reach 442.5 km. The South Extension is 22 km long and has four stations: Shenshan Station, Jianggao Station, Baiyunhu Station, and Guangzhou Baiyun Station.

After the entire line is fully connected and in operation, the Guangzhou–Qingyuan Intercity Railway will continue to use a bus-like operating model of “all-stops + express trains stopping at major stations”. The express trains stop at Guangzhou Baiyun Station, Huadu Station (Guangzhou North Station), and Qingcheng Station, with an additional stop at Feixia Station during peak hours. The Guangzhou–Qingyuan Intercity Railway runs an average of 72 EMU trains per day, with an average headway of 27 minutes. Based on commissioning data estimates, taking the “major-station express” from Guangzhou Baiyun Station takes 16 minutes to reach Huadu Station (Guangzhou North Station), 34 minutes to Qingcheng Station, and 48 minutes to Feixia Station.
