
The Line 5 western extension is about 2.88 km long with 3 stations; Line 8 Phase III is about 3.69 km long with 1 station; the Hongling South section of Line 11 Phase II is about 2.3 km long with 1 station; the northern section of Line 13 Phase I is 22.441 km long with 16 stations.
At 10:18 a.m. on December 28, the Shenzhen Metro Line 5 western extension (Huangbeiling Station–Grand Theater Station), Line 8 Phase III (Xiaomeisha Station–Xichong Station), the Hongling South section of Line 11 Phase II (Huaqiang South Station–Hongling South Station), and the northern section of Line 13 Phase I (Gaoxin North Station–Shangwu Station) began initial operations.

The Line 5 western extension project extends westward from the existing Huangbeiling Station (not included) to Grand Theater Station, with 3 stations and 2 inter-station sections, totaling about 2.88 km. Grand Theater Station offers transfers to Line 1 and Lines 2/8.

Line 8 Phase III starts from the existing Xiaomeisha Station on Lines 2/8 and extends eastward to Xichong Station, with 1 station and 1 inter-station section, totaling about 3.69 km, and adds a new Xichong depot.

The Hongling South section of the Line 11 Phase II project extends eastward from the existing Huaqiang South Station to Hongling South Station, with 1 station and 1 inter-station section, totaling about 2.3 km. Note that passengers heading to the Line 9 Hongling South Station need to exit the station.

The Line 13 Phase I project runs from Shenzhen Bay Port Station in the south to Shangwu Station in the north, with a total length of 22.441 km and 16 stations. The southern section of Line 13 Phase I (Shenzhen Bay Port Station to Gaoxinzhong Station) was put into operation on December 28, 2024. This opening is for the northern section of Line 13 Phase I, which has 9 stations; Liuxiandong Station can transfer to Line 5, and Shangwu Station can transfer to Line 6. In addition, Xili High-Speed Rail Station will be postponed for opening.
