The operational mileage of the Guangzhou Metro network has reached 751.1 kilometers.
On June 29, 2025, the Guangzhou Metro Line 10 (Yangji East to Xilang) and Line 12 ("West Section" from Xunfenggang to Guangzhou Gymnasium, "East Section" from Ersha Island to H.E.M.C.S.) began initial operations. With the opening of these two new lines, the operational mileage of the Guangzhou Metro network has reached 751.1 kilometers.
Line 10 spans 19.3 kilometers and includes 13 stations. The section from Xilang to Yangji East, measuring 17.2 kilometers with 12 stations, has been opened first. Among these, 5 are interchange stations, while the Sun Yat-sen University South Gate station is temporarily not in service. Line 10 will operate using the highest level of GoA4 fully automated driving technology. This fully automated operation supports dual modes of automatic and manual sleep-wake, as well as automatic train entry and exit from depots and automatic departures.
Line 12 features 25 stations along its entire length of approximately 37.6 kilometers. The East and West sections, totaling 28.8 kilometers with 18 stations, have been completed and opened first, including 7 interchange stations. The middle section (Jingtai to Donghu) and Chigang station are currently under construction and not yet open.
Once Guangzhou Baiyun Station on Line 12 opens, it will allow convenient transfers within the station to the national railway's Guangzhou Baiyun Station. Transfers from the national railway to the metro will be exempt from security checks in one direction. Additionally, due to the initial opening phase, the internal transfer passage at Wuyangcun Station will not be available, necessitating a temporary external transfer method similar to that at Pazhou Station. Passengers will need to exit through the blue transfer-specific turnstiles at Wuyangcun Station and enter through the blue transfer-specific turnstiles on the other line within 30 minutes, with fares equivalent to internal transfers, ensuring no impact on travel costs.
The section from Xiaojie Station to Xizhan Station, which is about 20 kilometers long, has been opened.
To facilitate track maintenance, the Maglev line's operation mode has been adjusted from dual-track to single-track operation.
The East Extension of Line 1 spans a total length of 16 kilometres and features 10 stations.
